Since YBP’s inception, there have been many bloggers who have been kind enough to devote their blogspace to YBP. We wanted to take this time to remind them of how thankful we are for their help in spreading the gospel.
These bloggers are the music fans who make all of this possible for us. They buy t-shirts, they encourage other people to do the same, and ultimately they help deliver our message to music lovers all around the globe.
To all the bloggers - your contribution makes a big difference for these charities, and so we thank you.
Here are some of the most recent blog posts about YBP:

Just when we thought YBP needed more Canadian musicians, we went and we found 19 more. We are proud to announce our latest design, by the indie rock darlings Broken Social Scene. This t-shirt, designed by their drummer Justin Peroff, is being sold to raise money and awareness for Lake Ontario Waterkeeper.
This t-shirt is a two tone print, delicately silk screened by hand on a tri-blend indigo 50/25/25 track t-shirt. 50% Polyester + 25% Cotton + 25% Rayon = 100% comfort!
As always, this tee is available in all men and women sizes. To see photos of the front and back of the t-shirt, click on their artist page. You can represent this Canadian band and charity anywhere in the world, as we ship world wide.
Lake Ontario Waterkeeper is an environmental justice organization working to win back the right to safely swim, drink, and fish in every waterway. Lately they have been undertaking a groundbreaking appeal of approvals for a tire-burning plan at a cement kiln on Lake Ontario. They are also the lead investigator in the prosecution of Michigan-based DTE Energy for mercury pollution at its coal-fired power plants. This is the first ever private prosecution of an American company polluting in Canadian waters. More information is available here.
This organization has also recently released ‘At the Barricades: Volume 1’, a music compilation produced in support of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper. It features a new exclusive track from Broken Social Scene called “Until It’s Dead”, as well as a new Stars remix of the “1st 5 times”. Many other artists who are committed to the fight for clean water also appear on this album.
This collaboration was made possible by Chris Brown, who was able to unite the Yellow Bird Project with Broken Social Scene and Lake Ontario Waterkeeper.
*** SPECIAL OFFER: FREE CD!!! ***
Now courtesy of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper, when you order two Broken Social Scene t-shirts (of any size) you will receive a free copy of the “At the Barricades” CD. We will mail it to you free with no additional shipping cost incurred, only while supplied last!

We also figured that we would take this budding time, the de-gelling ice, and the birds chirping to better inform our YBP supporters on how YBP directly aids charities. Our spring charity spotlight is: Free Arts for Abused Children, a charity supported by Rilo Kiley, which has for 30 years delivered meaningful programs that integrate the healing powers of art to help at-risk and needy youth and families. Free Arts’ approach encourages youth to channel their emotions and develop positive methods of communication through creative activities such as drama, dance, painting, writing and music.
YBP recently contacted Karrah Lompa from Free Arts to find out how YBP donations are helping out this cause. We thought we would share with you her response: “These donations directly support our programs — they help Free Arts for Abused Children recruit, screen, train, place, and support community volunteers to work directly with more than 25,000 abused, are homeless or at-risk children and families living in crisis each year. The funds from the Yellow Bird Project, as with all funds received for the Elliott Smith Memorial Fund, are dedicated to providing creative arts programs to a vulnerable population of children who benefit from the support of caring adult volunteers and new opportunities to be creative and express themselves.”

Call it a habit, call it a custom… Ah, let’s just call it a ritual. When there’s new music out from some of our favourite YBP artists, we have to report it.
King Creosote recently contributed a Malcolm Middleton cover of ‘Choir’ as a b-side to Malcolm’s new single, ‘Blue Plastic Bags’. You can listen to it on Malcolm’s myspace page here.
There is also a new Wolf Parade album on the horizon! You can sneak a listen to their first single called ‘Call it a Ritual’. The new album, which has yet to be named, drops on June 17th, but for now you can stream their single from their myspace page here.

When Megan Kathleen approached YBP and volunteered her expertise in photography, we happily obliged. We sent her two of our classic tees: Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and My Brightest Diamond, and she snapped away. The result is a fantastically creative array of themed photographs, which reflect these YBP t-shirts in the best of light.
