though i am a diehard bright eyes fan, the cover of "the biggest lie" was prosaic. i had never heard of chris garneau before i listened to his cover, which was phenomenal. i had to click "watch again" about several times while i was doing my literature homework because with each play i was even more blown away by it.

I thought the Bright Eyes one was pretty good until he messed with the ending, if you know what I mean. Overall I'd pick Chris Garneau's cover.

I may catch some flak for this comment, but I liked Bayside's cover of Baby Britain. I might be biased here because I've been listening to Bayside for a solid five years or so, but I liked Baby Britain the best.

Wow, this is a tough one, but I would have to give it to Devine. His is simple but beautifully rendered... the vocal harmonies, the guitar, all dead on. As for Garneau & Peyroux, both had stellar interpretations blended with their personal styles. There is palpable emotion from Garneau & Peyroux's is sleepy & ethereal. The Metrics'wasn't bad, but a little flat. As for Bright Eyes... I try to cut the guy a break for all the bad press he gets, but this was hands down cringe-worthy. Truly.

Garneau. Awesome voice, great cover. Love metric, but the cover was lackluster. Bright eyes rocks as well. His voice is beautiful because it is so different. But Chalk this one up to Garneau.

i personally thought that chris garneau's cover was the best (very touching and original), and bright eyes' was the worst. (maybe it was the recording, but i wasnt really digging it.) metric's was good, but it really didnt have any "metric-feel" to it. Madeleine Payroux's was good, and kevin devine's was second best. all in my opinion, of course.
