You know that feeling you get, when you discover something new? You feel like maybe you’re onto something… and you can’t decide if you should keep it to yourself, or share it with the world. Well, this blog is intended to fulfill our mandate of spreading the word about great music that we love. Since we’re all friends here, we’ll let you in on this wicked new band that is currently sweeping its way up the ranks.

Florence and The Machine are making their way across the UK summer festival circuit, playing all over the place. Florence’s full name is Florence Mary Leontine Welch. Apparently, her debut release consisted of 500 limited edition cassette tapes. They sound like a mixture of Whispertown2000, Kate Nash, and Amy MacDonald, injected with the soul of Amy Winehouse. It’s a kind of music that’s difficult to classify (which is a good thing - it means that their doing something different), you just have to hear it for yourself.

Watch this video below, a live performance of one of their fabulous singles ‘Girl with 1 Eye’. If you like it, you should buy the record and listen to the album version (it’s much better).

They’ve also recorded a cover of the epic Cold War Kids track ‘Hospital Beds’. I much prefer the original, but it’s an interesting rendition.
