About The Band
The Dears are an indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec. Fronted by husband and wife duo Murray Lightburn and Natalia Yanchak, this band has been around for over 10 years. Chartattack.com has appropriately likened their sound to being "the sonic equivalent of seeing the face of God". As YBP contributors, The Dears fit in nice and snug among a group of likeminded friends and contemporaries, including Stars, Broken Social Scene, and K-Os. This design was drawn especially by Murray and Natalia's three year old daughter, Neptune. They have chosen to designate the profits from the sale of this shirt to the Pablove Foundation, a charity which is dedicated to fighting childhood cancer.
About The Cause
The Pablove Foundation is named after Pablo Castelaz, the five-year-old son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill. In May 2008, Pablo was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms' Tumor, a rare form of children's cancer. He was treated at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). CHLA is an independent non-profit, which treats every patient "regardless of their financial status". The Pablove Foundation directly supports the pediatric cancer community in and around CHLA.
Pablo recently lost his battle with cancer; but the support for Pablove Foundation since then has been overwhelming.
