About the shirt

The idea for this Chvrches t-shirt design is an easy one to explain. In the early days of the band... they came up with the hare-brained idea that they were going to play a few warm-up shows under a pseudonym... "Shark Week”. In the end Chvrches chose not to go with that name because they would probably have been sued by a popular television channel and also because it sounded a bit fierce, a bit loaded. Chvrches was more universal, bigger sounding, more of a blank canvas, so that’s what they went for in the end. This t-shirt design is a tribute to the electronic pop outfit whose career was very short lived indeed. Just three short but sweet shows in their home territory.

About The Band

Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty are CHVRCHES; a Scottish synthpop trio that was founded in 2011. The record label Neon Gold described their sound as "a godless hurricane of kinetic pop energy”. Their digital/analogue interface recalls their '80s heroes Prince and Depeche Mode but they work with the era-spanning musical know-how of Kieran Hebden and the celebratory spirit of LCD Soundsystem.
